Owner Assistance Program

If you are unable to keep your dog because of circumstances in your life, we can help you by posting your dog on our website. We call this our "owner assistance program". We do not take owner surrender dogs into our foster homes. Here is the information on this program:

• You will be fully responsible for your dog until the animal is adopted. If the dog is adopted and needs to be returned, you must be willing to take the dog back to your home. Smiley Dog Rescue will not assume responsibility for your dog if returned under any circumstances.
• Submit proof of current vaccinations, and spay/neuter to Smiley Dog Rescue. These are required before we will post a dog on the website. If you would like to fax them please email us at smileydogrescue@yahoo.com and we will give you our fax number. • Print the Release for Courtesy Owner Surrender Listing, fill it out, sign it, and mail it along with a donation of $25.00 to Smiley Dog Rescue. Make checks payable to Smiley Dog Rescue and mail to us at Smiley Dog Rescue; PO Box 2728; Oakland, CA 94602.
• If you do not own the dog (that is, you only recently rescued the dog), we will waive the donation, but still need the medical records and the Release.
• Email us at smileydogrescue@yahoo.com up to 4 digital photos and a brief description of the dog. Please look at other bios for ideas. Be sure to include the dog's age, breed, if the dog is housebroken and how it gets along with other dogs, cats, and kids.
• Notify Smiley Dog Rescue when your dog has been adopted.
• When your dog is adopted you must ask for an adoption fee (a minimum of $75.00 is reasonable). If you would like to donate this adoption fee to Smiley Dog Rescue we would appreciate it.
